Ellie Goulding teases new music

Ellie Goulding teases a comeback almost two years after her last album Higher Than Heaven.

Nearly two years after her chart-topping album, Goulding is gearing up for a highly anticipated return in 2025 with her new record.

The singer shared insights about the upcoming album, calling it one of her most personal projects to date, according to The Sun.

Before taking the stage at the sold-out Top of the Mountain opening concert in Ischgl, Austria, the British superstar and mother of one reflected on the creative shift for her new music.

Higher Than Heaven was actually intentionally impersonal,” Goulding explained. “It was post-baby, post-pandemic. I just wanted to write some solid pop songs that you can dance to. This time, it’s a little different.”

Earlier this year, Goulding confirmed the end of her marriage to art dealer Caspar Jopling, though the two remain close and co-parent their three-year-old son, Arthur.

In September, Goulding traveled to Los Angeles to collaborate with Canadian producer Jack Rochon, known for his work with Beyoncé.

Reflecting on the process, she said, “I’ve been writing about what’s been going on in my life, but also just observations, friends, my connection with nature — the usual things that I tend to gravitate towards writing about, maybe slightly more elevated or evolved from the last album.”

For Goulding, crafting personal songs has been a deliberate and introspective process.

“Songs don’t come that easily to me, especially when they’re from more of a personal place,” she admitted. “Sometimes the best songs come from just sitting around, drinking tea, talking. It’s been time-consuming, but it’s time that I’ve needed to take.”

The singer also hinted at an exciting side project: “I’ve made a classical album that’s not out yet. I have a huge passion for classical music.”

Despite the freezing temperatures in Austria, which dropped to minus three degrees during her visit, Goulding appeared in high spirits as she shared her plans for the year ahead, leaving fans eagerly awaiting her next musical chapter.
