Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire is all set for a sequel for which a newly launched production company, by the name, 'Bridge7' has picked up the rights for the making.
'Bridge7' is a fresh venture based in Los Angeles that is being managed by producer Swati Shetty and CAA agent Grant Kessman.
The company acquired rights from the 'Celador International', a UK based production house which helmed and financed the 2008 film.
In a statement, both Swati and Grant spoke about the Dev Patel starrer movie, shared The Hollywood Reporter.
According to them, “Some stories stay with us long after the credits roll, and Slumdog Millionaire is undoubtedly one of them.”
“Its narrative is universal, cutting across cultural and geographical lines and it embodies the kind of stories we love - ones that bridge entertainment with profound human experiences.”
Prior to this, the confirmation about the upcoming project was also made by Academy Award winning composer A.R. Rahman.
“I’m incredibly excited to begin work on Slumdog Millionaire: The Musical”, he said.
Slumdog Millionaire starred Dev, Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor and Saurab Shukla. The romantic-crime flick won eight Oscars, besides bagging multiple awards at BAFTA and Golden Globe.
