AR Rahman's bassist, Mohini Dey, has recently squashed romance rumours with the music maestro in a new Instagram update.

For the uninitiated, the 28-year-old musician announced her split from her former partner, Mark Hartsuch.

This news came shortly after the music composer confirmed his separation from his now-estranged wife Saira Banu.

After they both announced their divorces from their respective partners, fans started speculating that Mohini and Rahman were romantically involved.

To put an end to the ongoing assumptions, the aspiring musician shared a video statement on social media, denying a romantic relationship with the music legend.

In a viral clip, the Thee Thee & Malargale bassist called Rahman a role model and father figure while urging fans to stop spreading such misleading information.

Furthermore, Mohini clarified that she and the Oscar-winning artist share a deep mutual respect, adding that she's close in age to his own daughter, making their bond more like a familial one.

The guitarist also penned a brief note, "It is utterly unbelievable to see the amount of misinformation and baseless assumptions/claims against me & @arrahman. It feels criminal that the media has vulgarised the two events."

"I honour my times as a kid working with @arrahman throughout my 8.5 years of working with him for his movies, tours, etc. It's disheartening to see that people have no respect, sympathy or empathy towards emotional matters like this. It saddens me to see people’s state of mind," the message further reads.

However, Rahman remained silent on the ongoing romance reports.
