Ranbir Kapoor has broken his silence after receiving severe backlash on his recently released film, Animal.
According to NDTV, the 42-year-old actor attended the 55th International Film Festival of India in Goa on November 24, 2024.
During the star-studded event, Ranbir was asked about his decision to perform a violent and toxic character in his action-crime movie.
In response, the father-of-one said, "I completely agree with your opinion. As actors, this is our responsibility to bring movies that make a positive impact on society."
"As actors, it's important for me to dabble in different genres and characters, and play varied roles," the Rockstar actor added.
The renowned Indian filmmaker, Karan Johar has also chimed in to support Ranbir and remarked, "I didn't go deep into the moral communication of the film - I was so swept by the narrative."
Speaking more about Ranbir's film, the 52-year-old director said he absolutely admired the way the story was narrated on the big screens.
For the unversed, Animal which was released on December 1, 2023, received worldwide criticism for showcasing violence and toxic misogynistic characters in the film.
In the film, Ranbir played the lead role of Ranvijay Singh, alongside Tripti Dimri and Rashmika Mandanna.
The movie also stars renowned Indian actors, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
