'DWTS' pro Artem Chigvintsev settles divorce with Nikki Garcia
Artem Chigvintsev Nikki Garcia opts for settlement two months after her divorce filing
Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia reached a divorce settlement two months after she filed for the dissolution of their marriage, which lasted for more than two years.
A representative for the WWE star confirmed to Page Six on Wednesday, November 20, that the estranged couple has reached a settlement and will not be proceeding to court.
"Nikki and Artem have settled their divorce and will not be going to court," the rep stated, adding, "Both parties have agreed to drop the domestic violence restraining orders against each other in order to move forward with their lives and effectively co-parent their son."
"Nikki’s number one priority has always been her son and her privacy in this matter," the statement continued, "she is grateful for the love and support she has received during this difficult time."
According to TMZ, the Dancing with the Stars pro dancer and Garcia, 40, decided to settle their divorce just two weeks before the trial was set to begin.
Sources suggest they were eager to avoid the emotionally taxing proceedings and high legal costs.
Although the Chigvintsev and Garcia are no longer on the best of terms, they are cooperating for the sake of their four-year-old son, Matteo.
