AR Rahman has recently ignited a debate on social media after using a bizarre hashtag amid his shocking split from his now-estranged wife, Saira Banu.
For the unknowns, the 57-year-old music maestro and his wife announced their separation after 29 years of marriage on November 19, 2024.
Following the announcement, Rahman took to his X account to confirm the news with an emotional statement that reads, "We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts."
"Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter," the Raanjhanaa hitmaker added.
Furthermore, the Oscar-winning Indian music composer ended his detailed note with a bouquet emoji followed by a puzzling hashtag "#arrsairaabreakup."
As Rahman's post gained popularity on social media, many fans criticised him for being insensitive during this challenging phase of his life.
One fan wrote, "Who starts a hashtag for a breakup?"
"Who creates a hashtag for this situation? Fire your admin, thalaiva," another fan disappointedly penned.
Rahman and Saira got married in 1995 and were together for 29 years.
The two share three children named A R Ameen, Khatija Rahman, and Raheema Rahman.
