Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice's husband, is celebrating his 41st birthday today, likely with his family at their Cotswolds home.
However, his birthday festivities come amid a backdrop of royal responsibilities. Recently, the property mogul has been seen frequently at Royal Lodge, where he is reportedly advising Prince Andrew on a significant makeover of the sprawling 30-room estate.
The Duke of York is said to be seeking Edoardo’s expertise in modernizing the property, with a skip spotted outside the residence at the end of summer, signaling renovation work.
This development follows an ongoing controversy regarding the funding of Prince Andrew’s stay at Royal Lodge.
After King Charles ceased paying the Duke’s £3 million-a-year security bill, Andrew was urged to downsize, but he has since convinced Palace officials to allow him to remain at the Windsor estate, citing sufficient funds to cover his expenses.
Recent photos of Royal Lodge show signs of neglect, with some outhouses in disrepair and large patches of peeling paint on the walls.
Inside, the space is said to be cluttered with novelty teapots collected by Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife, as well as gifts the Duke received during his royal duties.
Sources have revealed that renovations are focused on the guest areas of the property, where Prince Andrew is reportedly preparing to make improvements.
