Barry Keoghan shocked people in gym as he walked in with questionable marks on his skin while he was filming the movie, Bird.
Directed by Andrea Arnold, Keoghan's role in the movie required him to spend a lot of time in the sun which left sunburn marks of scorpion, spider, centipede and moth fake tattoos.
"Staying out of the sun. Because it was in the summer, the sun was catching the tattoos and then leaving sun marks around you,” he said in a recent chat with the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“So even when you took the scorpion off, you'd have a scorpion on your face, or the cross."
The 32-year-old said that people in the gym would look at him like it was "Satan sitting in the sauna”.
When people would stare, the actor would often respond with “Hey lads, fake tattoo. Sorry. And like, there's no tattoo, it's just a white mark with a cross. You know, evil spirit."
How would sometimes joke around and start "start like praying in the sauna."
"It gets weird then," he quipped.
In the movie Keoghan takes on the role of Bug, a carefree father of a curious 12-year-old protagonist.
Bird premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16th, 2024, and earned a Prix de la Citoyenneté award for its director.
