The Duchess of Edinburgh was delighted to be reunited with a special guest as she attended a charity event on Monday in London.

Sophie, who is a patron of the women’s health charity Wellbeing of Women, met with volunteers to thank them for their support as she marked the charity’s 60th anniversary at PwC’s offices in London.

During the event, Sophie crossed paths with Sir Marcus Setchell – the former Surgeon-Gynaecologist to the late Queen Elizabeth II who also delivered Sophie’s two children Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex.

In the heartwarming moment captured, the two were being introduced as the host said that they did not need an introduction. To which Sophie had quipped a “not really”.

Wellbeing of Women Chair, Professor Dame Lesley Regan shared that the charity has “pioneered life changing advances in women’s health over 60 years by funding research into new treatments that save and change lives.”

It has also “influenced policies and best practices across the globe and training future generations of women’s health researchers.”

The Duchess became a patron to the important charity May 2021. “I’m delighted to take on this role,” she said at the time. “I have a vested interest in it.”

According to a past DailyMail report, Sophie “was reportedly just 15 minutes away from dying in the emergency room” during Lady Louise’s delivery and lost “nine pints of blood through internal bleeding”.

Years after the incident, Sophie would open Frimley Hospital’s neonatal unit as she maintained that service “can literally make the difference between life and death” as she “can attest to that”.
