King Charles, who is known to be a doting grandfather, has a special place for one of grandchildren.
The monarch, who is father to Prince William and Prince Harry, had always wanted a daughter himself. While he calls Kate Middleton his ‘darling daughter-in-law’, the monarch is pleased to have his wish fulfilled with his ‘darling granddaughter’, a royal expert claimed.
William and Kate’s only daughter, nine-year-old Princess Charlotte, is adored by the monarch and he loves to spend time with her whenever he has the chance. The couple also share Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, six.
“It’s a source of great joy for the King to have a granddaughter,” former royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine.
“He had always hoped for a daughter himself and now he has a darling daughter-in-law he adores – they are closer than ever after their cancer experience.”
She added that Charles “loves to be with” Princess Charlotte “as often as life allows.”
King Charles, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, recently resumed his royal duties. According to Palace officials, the monarch is looking to take on a “normal” schedule of royal duties in 2025 as he appears to making good progress in his recovery.
“We're now working on a pretty normal-looking full overseas tour programme for next year. Which is a high for us to end on, to know that we can be thinking in those terms, subject to sign-off by doctors.”
