Prince Harry’s worries about his security appear to have some truth to them as the Prince William and his family come to face a major threat in their homes.
Prince William lives in the Adelaide Cottage, which is “just around the corner” and “still in the grounds” of Windsor Castle, with his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children.
On Sunday, the family came under threat after two masked men invaded the Windsor Castle to steal farm vehicles from the property. According to The Sun report, while there is security alarms set in place, the burglary was only discovered when the masked men made their exit by smashing through the gate, which William and his family often uses.
The incident comes just weeks after it was royal biographer Robert Hardman revealed in his book that Prince Harry felt “more secure in a hotel” than in the royal residence during his UK visit.
“The King and his staff had been well aware of Prince Harry’s travel plans, however, to the extent that the monarch had even offered his son accommodation at Buckingham Palace,” the excerpt read.
Meanwhile, sources close to the Sussex clan shared that the “Palace accommodation would, by definition, be inside a high-profile location and, without appropriate ‘security provision’, it would be safer to stay at an anonymous hotel.”
Hardman quoted a King’s staff, who shared that Harry had “chosen to stay at a hotel instead” and it was due to “security reasons”.
“I’m not sure you could get anywhere more secure than the Palace. Maybe he was worried about the mice,” the staff had said of Harry’s claims.
However, The Sun report implied that the barrier which was smashed by the robbers had “needed to be replaced as it was so badly damaged.”
The robbery also took place after Windsor Castle decided to remove armed guards from two public entrances, but gun cops are still thought to patrol the grounds.
Prince Harry, who has travelled solo since 2022 to the UK, has been vocal about how he feels that his security is not enough to protect his wife, Meghan Markle, and his two children.
“It’s still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor... whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me,” Harry previously told ITV in an interview.
