Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor Khan had a tiff at the time of film, Kal Ho Naa Ho.
Ahead of the re-release of KHNH in theatres, the insight has emerged revealing that the two friends went distant and were not on talking terms for straight two years.
According to Times Now, the reason behind the quarrel was that, Karan initially wanted Kareena to play the role of ‘Naina’ in the timeless classic for which the latter asked for a certain amount of compensation which at the time was not possible for the former to pay.
The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director felt a little hurt on The Crew actresses’ demand at the time as everybody knew that the filmmaker’s father, Yash Johar was fatally ill.
However, Khan lost the role which then eventually went to Preity Zinta.
On the other hand, Saif Ali Khan’s role was also offered to Salman Khan initially, but he refused to play an underlying role in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer film.
Meanwhile, the role of Jennifer, played by Jaya Bachchan was also first presented to Neetu Kapoor.
Kal Ho Naa Ho is a romance-musical that released worldwide on November 28, 2003. After 21 years, the makers have decided to bring back the joyful yet emotional film back to the theatres on November 15.
