Eddie Redmayne fans band together to land actor his next major role after impressing the audience with his stellar performance in leaves audience impressed with Day of the Jackal.

The series, which aired on Thursday, November 7th, was previously adapted in 1973 from the original Frederick Forsyth's novel of the same name.

Starring Redmayne, the plot is a modern re-telling of the story of an assassin tracked by an intelligence officer, played by Lashana Lynchan.

The Theory of Everything star earned accolades from fans for his performance and  they are eager to see him as the next James Bond after Daniel Craig.

Fans took to X, (formerly Twitter) to sing praises of the leading man.

“Just watched the jackal on sky Eddie Redmayne should be the new James Bond. #Jackal," one fan wrote.

“The first three episodes of the day of the jackal were great last night and dare I say a good audition for Eddie Redmayne as a potential James bond? #EddieRedmayne #TheDayOfTheJackal," another fan enthused.

During the London Premiere on November 7, the two-time Oscar-winning actor was "flattered" to be mentioned alongside 007 agent, however, he does not see himself playing the role.

“Whenever anyone brings out the James Bond thing, it’s deeply flattering," he said. "But I love watching the Bond movies, and I don’t want to see me in the Bond movies.”

Redmayne also shared he was “thrilled” to play Jackal, as he remembered growing up watching the original series.

“There was a kind of like casual, ruthless, debonair quality to him, the kind of peacocking thing that I loved, and also the shape-shifting quality that kind of defines him as a character,” he noted.

It remains to be seen if Redmayne will change his mind over a possible Bond film.
