Cole Hauser got hands on the script for Yellowstone’s new episode from the second half of season five, which was kept a secret from the rest of the cast and crew.
Yellowstone's highly anticipated return is set for Sunday, November 10 bringing new episodes.
In an interview on Thursday, November 7, Hauser, who portrays Rip Wheeler in the popular Paramount+ series, joined Drew Barrymore to discuss the experience of revisiting the intense Dutton family saga.
During their conversation, the actor shared how strict secrecy was kept on set in Montana to keep the plot details hidden, revealing that even crew members weren’t given access to the scripts.
“The crew couldn’t even see the scripts,” he explained, responding to Barrymore's own unsuccessful attempt to get an advance screening of the upcoming episode.
Hauser recently mentioned to Entertainment Tonight that, unlike some cast members, he had been given full script access. He hinted at a significant storyline, sharing that the Dutton family faces a major loss, which pushes them to unite and find ways to “survive.”
Drew talked about not being able to preview the episode early, saying, “Just so you know, we’re at the same parent company and I could not get a screener.”
“They have this thing on lockdown. It’s like Fort Knox. You cannot get in there. We couldn’t even get a clip!”
Hauser also reflected on the “wild experience” of working on Yellowstone for seven years, talking about his bond with Kelly Reilly, who plays Rips' wife Beth.
“Kelly and I are great friends and working with her, her ability as an actress is phenomenal. She is so different than the actual character,” he said, adding, “We are like brother and sister.”
