Selena Gomez exposes 'crazy' truth about 'Emilia Perez'

Selena Gomez is getting candid about her audition for the lead role in the highly-acclaimed Netflix film Emilia Perez.

The 32-year-old multi-hyphenate star, who recently attended the film’s premiere in Los Angeles, revealed that she “blacked out” during her audition in the operatic musical.

During an exclusive interview with Hollywood Reporter, the Love On hitmaker offered an inside scoop on her role in the film as she admitted it wasn’t easy to just get into the character’s spirit.

The former Disney star, who portrays the role of the drug lord’s wife Jessi Del Monte, said about her performance, "I throw everything around, and I had no idea the concept of what he was going for, the director Jacques (Audiard) literally said to me, act drunk and throw your shoes if you want, and just go crazy."

Expressing gratitude to her director, who made it easier for her to get through the process, Selena added, "I did it once and he was like, 'go crazier'.

"I went totally for it. I was standing on furniture and I blacked out, but I was just singing my heart out and dancing like a mad woman, a drunk mad woman and it was a very crazy experience. But I was honoured when he decided to ultimately go with me."

In addition, the 32-year-old was also joined by her co-stars Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofia Gascon, Adriana Paz, and Edgar Ramirez on the black carpet of the glamorous event.
