Stanley Tucci, known for his iconic role as Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada, has shared his surprising struggles after the film's success.
Despite the movie's box office triumph and two Oscar wins, Tucci faced unexpected challenges in finding his next role.
"After The Devil Wears Prada, I couldn't get a job, and I didn't quite understand that, but that's just the way it was," Tucci revealed to Vanity Fair. He took on projects he wasn't passionate about, driven by financial necessity.
Tucci's career has experienced fluctuations, influenced by both personal and professional factors. A health crisis six years ago significantly impacted his work.
"Having been sick six years ago, that threw a wrench into the works for a while, and then you slowly get back," he explained.
"But I had to start doing things. I needed to work because I needed money. I probably started working too soon. I didn't really have the energy to do it after the treatments, but you had to do it, and eventually you climb back up again."
Throughout his illustrious career, Tucci has appeared in numerous notable films, including The Lovely Bones, Julie & Julia, Spotlight, Patient Zero, and The Hunger Games franchise.
His performance in The Lovely Bones earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Rumours of a Devil Wears Prada sequel are circulating, with original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna on board. However, Tucci has yet to confirm whether he'll reprise his beloved role as Nigel.
