Jigra director Vasan Bala is making a bold admission about the film’s underperformance at the box-office starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.
The 46-year-old film director and screenwriter has held himself responsible for the film’s debacle at the box office.
During an exclusive interview with Fever FM, Vasan Bala opened up about Jigra being Alia Bhatt’s “lowest box office opener” ever.
He said, "So it is my responsibility to deliver box office because we are in the business of filmmaking also. So which is why I need to analyze. Something has happened, right?
Bala acknowledged that the 31-year-old multiple Filmfare Award winner had trusted him to make a good choice while adding, “Something has happened where people have stayed away, something that they have not bought, something that they didn't feel the need to come to the theater. If at all any other actor decides to give their time, his or her, then you know, make it worth it.”
The filmmaker said that the starrer’s failure came as a “surprise” to him as it was supposed to be a “pretty-accessible, straight-arrow film.”
In addition, he also expressed remorse for letting down producers Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt.
