Julia Roberts was the perfect choice to induct the Dave Matthews Band into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, given her deep personal connection with the band.
During the ceremony at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, the Pretty Woman star revealed that her first dance with her husband, Danny Moder, 25 years ago was to a Dave Matthews Band song.
“That was a winning combination,” Roberts, 56, fondly recalled, adding, “I have been swooning over my husband and this band ever since.”
Encouraging the audience to join in, Roberts playfully told the crowd to “clap for swooning.”
The Oscar-winning actress also emphasised her deep connection to the band, declaring, “We’re not just fans. We are lifelong fans,” as cheers erupted from the audience.
Roberts, who has been married to Moder, 55, since 2002, expressed her gratitude to the band, crediting them for playing a significant role in her life.
She said she was “deeply honoured to be a part of heralding these men” into the Hall of Fame.
The couple, who share three children together, continue to cherish the special moments that brought them closer through music.
