Rosie O'Donnell has spoken out about her daughter Chelsea Belle O'Donnell's recent arrest, shedding light on the family's long-standing struggle with Chelsea's addiction.
"Sadly, this is not new for our family – Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade," the O'Donnell family shared with In Touch.
Chelsea, 27, was arrested on September 10 after authorities found her 11-month-old son living in deplorable conditions, surrounded by feces, meth pipes, and garbage.
She faces four felony charges, including child neglect and possession of methamphetamine.
Rosie, 62, took to Instagram to address the situation, sharing an older photo of Chelsea. "Chelsea is in the news today – this is a photo from a better time," she wrote.
The Marinette County Sheriff's Office revealed that Chelsea called 911, prompting officers to arrive at her residence. They found Chelsea with dilated pupils and discovered a meth pipe in her pocket.
During the investigation, officers also spoke with Chelsea's boyfriend, Jacob Nelund, who showed signs of impairment. A search of the home uncovered hypodermic needles, marijuana pipes, and other evidence of drug use.
"We are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease," the O'Donnell family expressed.
