The Sindhudesh Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the blast that took place earlier during the day in Karachi. This was revealed by SSP Malir Rao Anwar.
SSP Rao Anwar also revealed that after the blast, police conducted raids and arrested four suspects in connection with the incident. The bomb was planted beforehand and was detonated exactly as a vehicle carrying a Chinese person was passing by. The Chinese man named Fee Chee and his Pakistani driver Tariq were injured in the attack.
According to SSP Malir, a vehicle's windows were shattered. The vehicle was quite close to the area where the blast occurred.
The shattered glass pieces caused minor injury to the two persons, both of whom were inside the vehicle. According to an eyewitness, he had spotted a suspicious package lying on the ground and he had informed the police about it 20-25 minutes before the blast.
The eyewitness said he had informed police officials but they had not taken notice of his warning.
Police also disclosed that pamphlets had been recovered from the scene of the blast. The text of the pamphlet laid blame on foreigners for seizing Sui gas and other projects.
According to DIG Kamran Fazal, one suspicious person was arrested at the scene of the blast whereas police cordoned off the area and began a search operation in the surrounding area and arrested three other suspects. Police also seized weapons from one house during their search operation.
SSP Malir Rao Anwar inspected the blast site and said that 14 Chinese nationals lived at Steel Town and better security arrangements were being made for their protection.
