William, Kate prioritise balanced 'hobbies, screen time' for their children

Prince William and Princess Kate are deeply involved in their children’s lives, dedicating considerable time and effort to nurture a variety of hobbies for Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six. 

Their focus is on fostering creativity and promoting overall well-being through diverse activities.

As active individuals, Kate and William's three children engage in various sports, including tennis, rugby, and football. 

However, the Prince and Princess of Wales also nurture their kids' creative talents, with William acknowledging that Kate tends to take the lead in the arts. 

Interestingly, their two youngest, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, share a specific hobby that they truly enjoy, although it doesn't quite capture Prince George's interest.

Prince of Wales disclosed during a visit to BAFTA's new headquarters in 2022 that he and Princess Kate have a shared interest in a particular activity or hobby.

However, he also noted that this shared interest presents a parenting challenge that he and Kate are addressing together. Essentially, while they both enjoy the interest, it comes with difficulties they are navigating as parents.

The hobby that Louis and Charlotte share is watching films, something that William also has a keen interest in, but he still has to work to ensure that their screen time is carefully kept in check - something many parents will be able to relate to. "At the moment it's trying to regulate the gaming... monitoring screen time. Got to be careful of that," William explained.

"They're fascinated by it. George particularly. He's more interested in it. The other two are a bit too small at the moment but they love the films. I adore film and gaming as well." 

At the time of his visit, William was launching a new BAFTA bursary in his name that provides funding to junior creatives working in these fields.

This isn't the only time it has come up that Kate and William have some concerns over the amount of screen time their children get - so much so that they even instituted a ban on the kids using iPads. 

When George and Charlotte were much younger, an anonymous source who knows the couple told Us Weekly, "They're very much seen as Mummy and Daddy’s toys, not for children," an anonymous source who knows the couple told the magazine.

 "As two people who grew up without gadgets for entertainment themselves, William and Kate are firm believers in toys, outdoor play, and encouraging an active imagination."
