Buckingham Palace releases video to celebrate key royal figure's milestone

King Charles III's office has shared a delightful video to pay a special tribute to a dutiful royal on his big day.

The royal family's social media accounts on Wednesday shared mesmerising video and photos of The Duke of Kent to celebrate his 89th birthday.

The Palace wrote along with the video:  "Wishing The Duke of Kent a very Happy 89th Birthday today!

"In celebration, three pipers from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, of which His Royal Highness is Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, performed for The Duke at Kensington Palace."

The Duke of Kent appeared outside his Kensington Palace home with his rarely-seen wife. The Duchess of Kent made a rare appearance as she joined her husband for a special birthday tribute outside their home. Katharine, 91, was pictured using a wheelchair on the doorstep of Wren House.
