Prince Harry is eager to reconnect with his ailing father King Charles, but is bound by a major hurdle in his way.
The Duke of Sussex is hoping to spend the upcoming Christmas holidays with his UK family in hopes to placate the ongoing years-long feud, insiders revealed.
Prince Harry, who left his senior royal positions in 2020, reconnected with his father, albeit for 45 minutes, at Clarence House in February this year, after Charles personally phoned him about his cancer.
Following the call, Harry took an overnight flight to the UK and speculations over a reconciliation between the father and son began swirling.
However, just months later, in May, despite being stone throws away, Harry was unable to meet his father given his “full diary of engagements.” Since then, the Duke has reportedly made many attempts to contact his father to no avail, casting major doubts over a possible reunion.
According to a source cited by Closer magazine, Harry is desperate to meet with the King and he is willing to take a bold step for it as well.
“‘It’s eating away at Harry that he hasn't seen his father since just after he announced his cancer diagnosis in February, and that was just a 45-minute meeting,” the insider said.
“But as the King stayed in Scotland while Harry was in London recently, a reunion is looking more unlikely, and Harry knows he must do something bold to make it right.”
The source further added that Harry is struggling to convince his wife Meghan Markle to visit the UK as she is “100% against spending any time there, let alone at Christmas.”
