Alia Bhatt once locked herself in a room and broke down over a professional setback that left a lasting impact on her.
During an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sanjay Leela Bhansali reflected on the shelving of his ambitious project, Inshallah, which was set to feature Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt.
The acclaimed filmmaker, whose credits include Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, said that Bhatt locked herself in the room and cried for a long time after hearing the news.
Bhansali recalled another instance where he asked the actress to play Gangubai Kathiawadi in his film of the same name.
To which, she replied, "From Los Angeles, where I was supposed to be playing the character (in Inshallah), I have come to Kamathipura. How do I do it? I don't know this character'."
Heaping on praises for the National Film Award winner, the director said that Bhatt delivered a spectacular performance and flew into the character like it was no other.
On professional front, the 31-year-old actress is currently gearing up for her upcoming film Jigra, which is slated to release on October 11.
