Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been subject to several name changes throughout his infamous career.
The ‘notorious’ rapper, who has been accused of sex trafficking and racketeering by attorney Tony Buzbee, apparently ‘confused himself’ with multiple names over the years.
Although his real name is Sean Combs, the rapper has been known to rebrand himself multiple times in the past, citing various reasons.
According to reports, Combs was referred to as Puff during his childhood since he would always “huff and puff” when he was angry.
He later adopted the name and modified it to 'Puff Daddy' for his music career.
However, it wasn’t long until he decided to change his name back due to legal reasons.
Since he was not found guilty on charges of gun possession and bribery, the 54-year-old stated at the time, "No more Puff Daddy. The first week in June, we’re going to have a name change ceremony.
“I’m not doing it as serious as Prince, I just want something fresh. I’m rocking with just P Diddy now."
Speaking about his frequent name changes in a short span of time, he admitted to sometimes confusing himself.
Combs added, "Nobody knew what to call me. I’d notice that people were uncomfortable when I’d meet them for the first time and then they’d ask me what they should call me.
“I even started to get confused myself and when I would call someone on the telephone, it took me a long time to explain who I was. Too long."
For the unversed, the Last Night hitmaker was first taken into custody on September 17 in Manhattan on multiple charges.
