Bollywood’s ace director Karan Johar recently revealed that Kajol was not his first choice for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director initially wanted to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the role of Anjali as he was not sure if Kajol would agree to do the film.
In a throwback interview with Komal Nahta, he mentioned that he believed that the Fanaa actress might not do the film considering that that she was now married and wanted to settle down.
In a statement, the 52-year-old director said: “When I was casting for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, I got to know that Kajol won’t be able to do the film because she was married and maybe she wanted to start a family. I thought I will approach Aishwarya.”
“On that particular day, at 3 p.m. I reached Kajol’s studio and I thought she will say no, we will shed some tears and I will leave. I, of course, felt bad because Kajol had already worked with me.”
But Karan’s expectations went all wrong as Kajol agreed to do the film, reported Pinkvilla.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) is one of Karan Johar’s iconic films of all time starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan in significant roles.
