Elizabeth Olsen has recently reflected on her past mental health struggles as she opened up about suffering from panic attacks during her 20s.
In a new interview with The Guardian, the Avengers: Infinity War actress talked about having anxiety and panic attacks over the years.
“I’ve gone through phases of it,” said the 35-year-old.
Elizabeth mentioned, “Figuring out what works for me, or what works enough. No one talked about panic attacks in the mid-2000s.”
The WandaVision actress explained, “I thought it meant you just write a list and check things off and get over it.”
“I didn’t realise it was something you had no control over, but I had to figure out how to have some control,” she continued.
Recalling her experience of having panic attacks multiple times a day, Elizabeth revealed, “Almost every hour! It was literally, like, any time there was a shift in something: hot to cold, hungry to full. I thought, ‘Oh, is this OK?’ And then it would spiral and it just became this habit.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the actress opened up about overcoming panic attacks, noting, she would “interrupt the thinking process and name everything she saw in her head to interrupt it”.
“You learn very quickly who you feel comfortable around and who you don’t,” she added.
