Ariana Grande isn’t staying silent about her relationship with Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, despite the criticism swirling around them.
In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, the pop star, 31, addressed the backlash following their high-profile romance, which emerged after both stars separated from their respective spouses.
“The most disappointing part was seeing so many people believe the worst version of [our relationship],” Grande shared.
The Grammy-winner fiercely defended Slater, saying, “No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about... There is no one on this earth with a better heart.”
Taking aim at the media, she expressed frustration over the narratives spun about her personal life. “The back-and-forth throughout the course of my career has been really hard to navigate mentally,” Grande said, pointing out how tabloids have been “trying to destroy” her since her teens.
Grande and Slater’s relationship became public in July 2023, shortly after which Grande filed for divorce from her husband, Dalton Gomez. Slater also split from his wife, Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a son. Jay later accused Grande of not being "a girl's girl" in an exclusive statement to Page Six.
