Queen Camilla’s son debunks long-standing rumour about her
Tom Parker-Bowles breaks silence over misconception held about Queen Camilla over many years
Queen Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles finally breaks his silence over a long-standing rumour about his mother.
Before she was married to King Charles, Camilla had a reputation for “drinking gin and smoking,” and many Palace insiders later on revealed a special request the royal had made to satisfy her addictions.
However, Tom told The Times that the speculation over his mother’s habits were “totally inaccurate.”
He told the outlet that “never drunk a glass of gin in her life,” and revealed that Camilla “doesn't smoke” (not anymore at least).
Previously, a senior staff member told Daily Mail that when Camilla still smoked, she had instructed the footmen to place silver cigarette boxes containing her favourite brand in every room.
Moreover, they also had to make sure that matchbox holders in solid silver containers were placed upright near at hand with one match half withdrawn so she did not have to scrabble about looking for a light.
Tom believes that Camilla’s image of a heavy drinker and smoker was perpetuated by Channel 4's portrayal of his mother in its sitcom, The Windsors.
