Chappell Roan makes shocking move after bold statement
Chappell Roan cancels shows after backlash over her stance on U.S. elections
Chappell Roan took the shocking decision of spontaneously cancelling the next few shows.
The Good Luck, Babe singer came under fire after expressing her political stance in a TikTok video.
The VMA winner, 26, was set to perform at the All Things Go festival, along with her other shows in New York City and Washington DC, over the weekend.
However, the Casual singer released a notice on Friday, informing fans of the cancellation of all scheduled shows.
She took to Instagram, and typed on her story, “I apologize to people who have been waiting to see me in NYC & DC this weekend at All Things Go, but I am unable to perform. Things have gotten overwhelming over the past few weeks and I am really feeling it.”
Roan ended the message, saying “I feel pressures to prioritize a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritize my health. I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible. Thank you for understanding.”
The Hot To Go hitmaker is currently on her Midwest Princess headlining tour and is next due to perform on Monday October first, at the Firstbank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee.
The show cancellation comes after the star opened up about her political stance on the upcoming 2024 U.S. presidential election.
In a TikTok video on Tuesday, the singer clarified that she would not be endorsing Kamala Harris because of her disagreements with the candidate’s policies.
However, the Pink Pony Club singer received immense backlash on her declaration.
A fan wrote in her Instagram comments, “Love you but please be aware of your words regarding the election.”
While others added, “Extremely disappointed in your words and actions regarding the most important election of our time.” And, “I look at her different after she failed to defend women and queer rights."
Chappell Roan, who rose to fame this year after the release of her chart-topping album, has previously share how fame has changed her life, saying that she would rather quit than be stalked or harrassed by fans.
