On his milestone 40th birthday today, Prince Harry is likely to receive some very special gifts to celebrate the occasion.
One person sure to go above and beyond is his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex is undoubtedly spending the day with her husband and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
A few years ago, on another special birthday, Meghan reportedly surprised Harry with a romantic gesture. In 2019, for his 35th birthday, Meghan is said to have recreated their memorable trip to Botswana by setting up tents in their garden.
Harry had taken Meghan to Botswana in 2016, early in their relationship, and the former actress wanted to bring those cherished memories back to life for him.
A source told People magazine at the time that Meghan recreated their camping trip in minute detail from the tents to the sleeping bags.
They explained: "Last year, for Harry's birthday, Meghan recreated their Botswana camping adventures in their backyard. It's a place that means so much to them - and to Harry in particular - so Meghan wanted to bring that happy place to him on his day so she set up a tent, got sleeping bags, cooked dinner and recreated Botswana where they fell in love."
Harry asked Meghan to join him on the Botswana trip after they'd had just two dates in London and it's believed to be the time when the couple first fell in love. Speaking in their engagement interview.
Harry said: "I managed to persuade her to come and join me in Botswana. We camped out with each other under the stars. She came and joined me for five days out there, which was absolutely fantastic."
Botswana holds a special place in the hearts of the Sussexes, and the couple may be planning another royal-style visit there later this year. So far, Prince Harry and Meghan have already made two trips this year, referred to as DIY-style royal tours, visiting both Nigeria and Colombia.
These trips featured many traditional elements of royal tours, such as school visits, performances from local dancers and musicians, and meetings with dignitaries.
According to Hello! magazine, the couple has been energized by their recent travels and may head back to Africa later this year, specifically to Lesotho and Botswana, where Harry's Sentebale charity operates. It has been five years since his last visit to these countries.
News of this possible tour comes alongside details of Harry's upcoming solo trip to New York.
