Artem Chigvintsev has responded to his estranged wife Nikki Garcia’s divorce filing with his court documents.
E! News reported on September 13 that, two weeks after the Dancing with the Stars pro dancer was taken into custody under the charges related to domestic violence, Garcia, 40, filed for the dissolution of their marriage of two years.
In his response, Chigvintsev, who shares a four-year-old son, Matteo, with Garcia, submitted his requests to the court on Friday, confirming their separation date as August 29, the day of his arrest.
According to court documents obtained by US Weekly, Chigvintsev, 42, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split.
In addition, the former DWTS performer is seeking spousal support and reimbursement for his attorney's fees from Garcia, 40. He also requested joint legal and physical custody of Matteo.
In contrast, Garcia has asked for sole legal and physical custody of their son, per her court documents obtained by TMZ on September 11.
However, the WWE star formerly known as Nikki Bella indicated she might consider allowing visitation rights for Chigvintsev.
The couple has yet to address their divorce publicly.
