George Lopez recently opened up about his close friendship with Sandra Bullock, revealing that she holds a special place in his heart.
On the iHeartRadio podcast "Politickin' with Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and Doug Hendrickson", Lopez shared how Bullock had a profound impact on his life, saying she "changed the direction of his life".
He also shared a personal anecdote, recalling a time in the mid-to-late 90s when Bullock was planning to attend one of his comedy club performances.
Lopez confessed that he was "drinking a lot" at the time and begged the manager not to let her in, saying "I didn't want her to see me like this".
According to People magazine, he recalled, “I didn't even know her. And I got on my knees that in that green room, and I said,' Please, please don't let her.’”
About a year and a half later, Lopez and Bullock's paths crossed again when she became an executive producer for his popular TV show.
At the time, Lopez was searching for fresh talent, and Bullock's involvement marked a significant turning point in their professional relationship.
"I had already kind of cleaned up a little bit, and then she saw me, and she's like, 'Come to my office, and we sat there for like three hours.’ I'd never had anybody believe in me,” Lopez noted.
The George Lopez Show debuted in 2002 and ran for six successful seasons, concluding in 2007, according to the publication.
He recalled, "She changed the direction of my life, and you know, everybody that's in my family, and for no other purpose other than she just thought I was funny.”
