Seven years after the passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington, Linkin Park has made a triumphant return with new music and a new lead singer, Emily Armstrong.
The band introduced Armstrong and new drummer Colin Brittain during a livestream event, where they joined returning members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn.
Armstrong will share vocal duties with Shinoda, marking a new era for the band. "This is a very special day for us," Shinoda said during the livestream. "In the role of Chester Bennington, this afternoon is each of you."
Linkin Park's livestream event featured the debut of their new single, The Emptiness Machine, and the announcement of their upcoming album, From Zero, set to release on November 15.
The band's new lineup includes Emily Armstrong, formerly of Dead Sara, on vocals, and Colin Brittain, a seasoned songwriter and producer who has worked with notable bands like Papa Roach and All Time Low, on drums.
Notably, original drummer Rob Bourdon has chosen to leave the band, according to a representative.
“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company, and the things we created,” Shinoda said.
“We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant and energized new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known for and still exploring new ones.”
Linkin Park has announced their From Zero World Tour, a six-date concert series that will take them to major cities around the globe.
The tour will stop in Los Angeles and New York in the US, as well as international destinations like Germany, London, South Korea, and Bogotá, Colombia, with five arena shows and a special sixth concert.
