Drew Barrymore is working on respecting her guests' personal space in the upcoming season of her talk show.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she acknowledged her tendency to get physically close to her guests, saying, "Well, I'll try to practice physical distance, which is not my strong point."

She attributed this habit to the COVID-19 pandemic, which left her feeling isolated: "Do you know how hard the pandemic was for me? I was alone in a studio by myself! I like to be around people!"

Barrymore recognises that her physically affectionate approach during interviews may not appeal to everyone, and she apologises to those who don't enjoy it.

However, she emphasizes that she intends to spread "joy and laughter" to both her guests and audience, making her interactions a positive and uplifting experience.

“I think that, first of all, we’re always gonna be big on joy and laughter and feeling good, and that was something I always wanted to do,” Barrymore said. “But I never thought we would launch in a pandemic, and trying to lean into the joy and the feel good and the comedy at that time was real weird and wacky.”

CBS has extended The Drew Barrymore Show's run through the 2025-26 season, according to an announcement made by Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.

“Drew is a one-of-a-kind talent who is an integral part of the CBS and Paramount family,” McMahon wrote in a statement.

“This early renewal and upgrades are a testament to our commitment to The Drew Barrymore Show and its loyal audience, who tune in every day to see Drew’s warmth, inquisitiveness and spontaneity.”
