Chappell Roan recounts horrifying details of interactions with fans during her recent show.

The singer-songwriter shared that she had to “draw lines and set boundaries” with fans after facing harrassment and nonconsensual physical interactions since she rose to fame.

Roan took to her Instagram on Friday to reiterate how she has been telling fans to respect her boundaries since the beginning.

“For the past 10 years I've been going nonstop to build my project and it's come to the point that I need to draw lines and set boundaries,” she wrote in the social media post.

The Pink Pony Club singer explained that she is “at work” when she’s on stage, in drag, at a work event, or doing press and she is not responsible to meet with fans’ enthusiasm who try to get close to her non-consensually.

She remarked that predatory behaviour against women celebrities “has become normalised because of the way women who are well-known have been treated in the past.”

Roan compared the situation to that of a woman getting blamed for what she was wearing when getting harassed.

“It is not the woman's duty to suck it up and take it; it is the harasser's duty to be a decent person, leave her alone, and respect that she can wear whatever she wants and still deserve peace in this world," the Casual singer penned.

The 26-year-old singer expressed her gratitude to fans who have shown her love she "she has ever felt in her life" but admitted that she also feels the most unsafe she has ever felt.

“There is a part of myself that is just for me, and I don't want that taken away from me,” Roan concluded.
