Alia Bhatt came to the rescue of a struggling child artist on set, protecting her from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's anger.

During a recent interview with The Hindu Rush, Seema Pahwa, who starred alongside Bhatt in Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, reflected on her ‘enlightening’ experience with the actress.

Sharing her stance on working with the Student of the Year star for the first time, Pahwa shared, “Back in my mind I was anticipating, ‘she is a new girl and from a film family, I wonder how she would be as a person.’ But, I was surprised.

“She treated me with a lot of respect. Maybe because Sanjay introduced me to her as a senior actor. But, one incident on set changed my perspective about her.”

The actress, who played Sheila Masi in the Bhansali production, recounted an instance involving Alia and a child actor on the 2022 film sets.

Pahwa revealed that the child was required to deliver a few lines while sleeping beside the 31-year-old star, but she would fall asleep every time she was given her cue.

Speaking exclusively to Pinkvilla about the iconic scene, she explained, "Alia took the responsibility of making sure that the child delivers her lines. She'd prod her. I really appreciated this gesture. She saved the girl from embarrassment and possibly being told off.”

The 62-year-old Indian actress and director further heaped on praises for the Heart of Stone alum for being extremely ‘civil’ and cultured.

She said, “Alia is a cultured girl. She respects elders, she respects other actors. I've done long hours with her, but not once has she arrived late or complained. She is very passionate about her craft.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi was first released on February 25, 2022, and received widespread acclaim from fans worldwide.
