Leonardo Engelman, who did Cher’s makeup for over three decades, has passed away at the age of 83.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the late makeup artist’s wife, Esther Engelman, told the publication that he died on Thursday at Northridge Hospital Medical Centre.
The cause of the Lifetime Achievement award-winning makeup artist's death was not disclosed.
Engelman, who was the son of a Hollywood makeup artist, persuaded the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after a long time to convince to install a makeup branch.
When the demand was fulfilled in 2006, he was elected its first governor. Later, he worked to have hairstylists added.
Working as Cher’s personal makeup artist, Engelman accompanied her on several films, including Moonstruck, Suspect, The Witches of Eastwick, Mermaids, Faithful, Tea with Mussolini and Burlesque.
Moreover, Engelman also did makeup for Sylvester Stallone on Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rocky IV and Cobra.
He was also honoured with a lifetime achievement award from the Hollywood Makeup Artists & Hair Stylists Guild in 2017.
Engelman earned two Emmy nods: For an episode of Night Gallery in 1972 and the miniseries Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis in 2001.
