Lady Louise Windsor is poised for a "quasi-official royal role" in the future, a commentator has claimed.

She is the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and currently attends university in St Andrews, Scotland.

Despite being the daughter of Prince Edward and granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Louise, 20 and her younger brother James, Earl of Wessex, were not bestowed with princely titles during their upbringing.

In a 2020 interview, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, explained that Louise and James, aged 16, are unlikely to assume official royal duties in the future.

She told The Times: “We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living.

“Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles. They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but I think it’s highly unlikely.”

Louise's cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are not working royals, however, the sisters hold several patronages in a private capacity.

Gareth Russell, a royal commentator, spoke exclusively to GB News to explain whether Louise will take up patronages in the future, despite her ambitions to embark on a career.

He said: “Certainly Lady Louise has already been at some private royal events where she has met with guests and members of the public.

“So I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see Lady Louise take on some patronages, whether it's in a private or a quasi-official role, we'll have to wait and see.

“But I would be very, very surprised when the time comes if she doesn't take on some of them in a private capacity as well.”

In addition to her diligent studies at university, Lady Louise is an enthusiastic carriage driver. She frequently competes in competitions held at Sandringham in Norfolk and Windsor.

She learned the sport from her late grandfather, Prince Philip, who was also passionate about carriage driving.

Lady Louise, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, made her most recent public appearance at Trooping the Colour in June, where she was seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
