John Lennon’s son is preserving his late father’s legacy.
Earlier this month, the former Beatle’s son, Sean Ono Lennon — whom the former Beatle shares with Yoko Ono — re-released John’s 1973 solo album Mind Games.
Promoting the re-release, Sean opened up to The Sunday Times about his mission to ensure that his music legend father’s memory lives on.
“One thing that distinguishes my dad’s solo career is how personal his lyrics became,” Sean, 48, shared.
“It is like a diary, and it is my duty to bring attention to my father’s music. Not just my duty to him, but a duty to the world,” he continued.
“With the world as it is now, people have forgotten so many things that I never imagined could be forgotten. I refuse to let that happen to his music — it means too much to me,” Sean declared.
John Lennon left an indelible mark on music and culture, despite his tragic death after he was shot outside his New York City residence, the Dakota, by Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980.
He was 40 years old at the time of his death and would have celebrated his 84th birthday on October 9.
