Anna Farris has the late Matthew Perry to thank for her role in Friends.
In a recent interview with People Magazine, the 47-year-old actress reflected about her brief but pivotal role in the final season of the iconic sitcom in 2004 as the expectant mother whose child is adopted by Chandler and Monica (Perry and Courteny Cox) amid their fertility struggles.
“It was an honour, and he was just an incredible person,” Farris shared of Perry, who tragically passed away from an accidental ketamine overdose in October 2023 at the age of 54.
Faris appeared in just four episodes leading up to the series finale, so her interactions with Perry were limited.
She reflected, “I wish I knew him better. It feels a little audacious for me to speak too much about somebody that I felt like I had brief interactions with, but they were wonderful and I am honoured to be a part of the show.”
Despite her brief stint, Farris was grateful for the opportunity, revealing that it was Perry who suggested her for the role after seeing her performance in Sofia Coppola’s 2003 film Lost in Translation.
“That was my understanding, at the time. He told me he’d seen me in Lost in Translation and he thought I was good,” she recalled.
