Shannen Doherty was eagerly waiting to become a mom and have kids before she died at 53.
People confirmed the Beverly Hills, 90210 star passed away on Saturday, July 13, after she had a cancer relapse in 2019.
Though Doherty released some episodes of her podcast, Let’s Be Clear, days before her death, she opened up about becoming a mother in an episode that aired in January.
"Not only did I want a child for myself, but I wanted it for my husband," she said during the episode featuring her oncologist, Dr Lawrence Piro. "I wanted it for our marriage."
"I wanted him to have that part of himself fulfilled as well," the Charmed alum said, who was "desperately" trying to get pregnant with her former husband, Kurt Iswarienko, before she had the cancer relapse.
Doherty noted she tied the knot with Iswarienko in 2011 when they were "later in years."
"So when it was time to have that decision, we needed IVF, and I did a bunch of rounds of it," she explained.
Doherty eventually stopped IVF due to menopause and her ongoing health journey, which included a mastectomy in 2016.
After she went into remission in 2017, the cancer returned in 2019, and Doherty announced she had metastatic stage 4 cancer in 2020.
Three years following her cancer announcement, she updated that her cancer had spread to her brain and bones.
