Britney Spears gets candid about her post-divorce struggles
Britney Spears split from ex-husband Sam Asghari in August 2023 after 14 months of marriage
Britney Spears got candid about her struggles and ‘false confidence’ after finalising her divorce from husband Sam Asghari.
The popstar, 42, took to her Instagram on Friday to share a lengthy note alongside a video of her dancing to Madonna’s I’m Addicted in skimpy attire.
“This was me almost a year ago in September,” the Gimme More singer pointed out in her caption. “I look way younger and way smaller.”
She continues to reflect, “I guess I need to brace myself and slow down and recap the past year because I think I had a false confidence after my divorce,” adding that she did post some of her best work with Ray of Light and I’m Addicted by Madonna.
Spears, who split from Sam Asghari in August after over a year of marriage, then apologised in the post "for not being perfect."
"I literally need to go back and adjust and possibly do a couple more therapy sessions," she added. "I apologize for not being perfect and I will try and get confidence and consistency back like I used to have.”
Spears and Asghari separated due to "irreconcilable differences that have led to the irremediable breakdown of the marriage, making it impossible for the parties to live together as husband and wife," per documents.
However, Asghari later told People Magazine that despite the split, he considered their time together "a blessing."
