Nelly Furtado wants to collaborate with Taylor Swift ASAP.
In fact, the Portuguese-Canadian singer, 45, recently revealed in an interview with Extra published Thursday, July 11, that she already has a song ready for the international pop sensation, 34.
“I have a song for Taylor,” Furtado told the outlet, explaining that the track was produced by Australian EDM artist Dom Dolla, who happens to be friends with Swift’s NFL superstar boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
“Dom is friends with Travis, so let’s get it poppin’! We want Taylor on it!” she further declared.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Grammy-winning artist reminisced about the first time she met Swift at the 2023 VMAs, where she also presented the Eras touring artist with an award.
The pair shared a heartfelt conversation backstage, which Furtado captured in a TikTok video posted last year.
“I was like, screaming [Furtado's song] I’m Like a Bird the other day. Versatility, dude. You can do anything, you can do anything,” Swift told Furtado, who also praised Swift by saying, “Every time you write another amazing song, I’m like, ‘She did it again!’”
Recalling the encounter to Extra, Furtado noted, “I meet other artists and they like my music, like a Taylor Swift, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh f***, that’s cool! Really, you were singing my song at a party?’ You kind of forget that you’ve been around awhile.”
