Aaron Carter’s twin sister Angel revealed how she had prepared for the rapper's early death years before it actually happened in November 2022 at the young age of 34, after his lengthy battle with drug addiction.
Aaron, a child star, died due to accidental drowning at his home in Lancaster, California which was led by him inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam, the generic form of brand-name Xanax.
Tragic events hit the Carter family throughout the years; in a span of just 11 years, three of the five siblings passed away from overdoses.
Leslie, who was 25, passed away in 2012, and Aaron, who was 25, followed. Bobbie Jean, who was 41, overdosed on fentanyl and methamphetamine in 2023.
Aaron’s 36-year-old twin sister Angel along with Nick Carter, 44, are the only left siblings.
Due to the past family tragedies, Angel revealed that she had made herself ready to lose her twin due to his substance abuse.
“What's so interesting about Leslie's passing… she passed away when I was 23, her death completely blindsided me. I didn't see that one coming. When she died, I was already in therapy, preparing for Aaron's death. I thought he was gonna die,” she said on Taylor and Tay Lautner's podcast The Squeeze this week.
After that she expressed that she “feared Aaron’s eventual death her entire twenties” saying, “I knew this day was going to come.”
“I think he knew it, too” she added, as he “could not get out” of his addictions.
She also shared how maybe she was not the person he needed to improve.
“I was the peacemaker in my family, the mediator. Like, Let's just hug it out. It's gonna be okay. And he didn't wanna hear that from me. He needed his parents to step up.”
