Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri has a couple of reasons behind her decision to change her last name.
The recent high school graduate has been in the headlines for allegedly dropping Cruise from her name, replacing it with Noelle, that is her mom’s middle name.
Speaking to Page Six, a source revealed Suri’s decision stems from her love for Katie, who has been raising her on her own following years-long estrangement from the Top Gun actor.
Moreover, the 18-year-old is looking to start fresh without the deluge of paparazzi following her all the way to college.
“She is showing praise for her mother by using her middle name,” the insider claimed, adding she “wants her own identity.”
Suri first sparked headlines after it was reported she was listed in the playbill for her high school’s performance of The Addams Family: A New Musical as Suri Noelle.
She also used the same moniker at her graduation ceremony from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts earlier this month.
Holmes and Cruise were together for over six years, parting ways when Suri was only six years old in 2012.
