Ziggy Marley recently shared photos of his mother Rita, describing her as “the backbone of everything.”
Marley, the 55-year-old son of the late reggae icon Bob Marley, took a moment to appreciate his mom in an Instagram tributary post on Tuesday, June 25.
Flaunting a close-up of Rita posing with a thumbs-up in an orange blouse and colorful jewelry, he captioned the post: “My strength. Mommy,” followed by a red heart emoji.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE about mom’s immense support for his late father and their family, the “proud” son heaped praise on Rita.
He told the outlet: “My mom is the backbone of everything. Without her, none of this would’ve been happening. My father's career wouldn’t be what it is. They really complement each other in that way. You need someone like that by your side. You can’t do it alone. You could never do it alone.".
For the unversed, Bob and Rita shared kids Cedella, Stephen, Ziggy alongside Marley’s adopted daughters, Sharon and Stephanie from other relationships.
Speaking highly of his parents’ relationship, Ziggy explained that his parents had "more than a physical connection. They had a spiritual connection, and that’s the deepest kind of connection you can have.”
