Sophie Turner's upcoming film 'Joan' is based on real life story of a diamond thief, Joan Hannington
Sophie Turner has set the internet abuzz by unveiling the first teaser for her upcoming film, Joan.
On Tuesday, June 25, the Game of Thrones alum shared a sneak peek from her personal Instagram account.
"Here she comes [diamond emoji] #Joan," she captioned the post, igniting excitement among fans for her new project.
According to the official synopsis of the new ITVX series, Turner, 28, portrays a "fiery, uncompromising, and intoxicating character, who is not without her own deep scars and vulnerability."
The series highlights Joan's duality as a loving mother to her four-year-old daughter, Debbie, while being trapped in a disastrous marriage to a violent thug.
When her husband goes on the run, Joan seizes the moment to escape her old life, making heartbreaking decisions to secure a better future for herself and her daughter.
In the teaser, Turner is seen applying makeup in front of a vanity, sporting a short wig, before transitioning into several different appearances while evading the police.
"Mother, lover, liar, thief" are the words that flash over the trailer, setting the tone for the series based on the real-life story of Joan Hannington, one of Britain's most notorious diamond thieves.
The filming of the six-part series began in September 2023, the same month Turner's separation from Joe Jonas was announced.
