Jennifer Lopez's production company, Nuyorican Productions, is adapting Emily Henry's bestselling young adult novel Happy Place for the small screen, as reported by Deadline on Tuesday.
Lopez, 54, expressed her excitement on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of the announcement.
Lopez adorned her post with a “Can’t Wait!” sticker and retained Goldsmith-Thomas’ original caption, which read, “WE CANNOT WAIT TO WORK WITH @emilyhenrywrites on her brilliant amazing novel #happyplace!!!! @jlo #NuyoricanProductions.”
The 2023 book centers on Harriest and Wyn, a couple who have been together since college but who "broke up six months ago" and haven't notified their closest friends yet.
The two realise they might not be over each other after all, so they keep lying about their breakup.
Lopez and her previous manager, Benny Medina, formed Nuyorican Productions in 2001. Although Medina left Lopez shortly after the company's inception, Lopez continues to serve as Principal. As of right now, Goldsmith-Thomas is the President.
The first production of the firm was the 2006 film El Cantante, which starred Lopez and her then-husband Marc Anthony.
Since her personal life has continued to get attention, Lopez has leaned more into her career.
While Lopez gets ready to play the lead role in the picture, work is still being done on her next project, Unstoppable, which will be produced in part by her husband Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's company, Artists Equity.
It follows a busy promotional tour for Lopez's most recent Netflix film, Atlas.
To her joy, Atlas became a global sensation. On June 5, Lopez expressed her gratitude to her followers in her email On The JLo.
“I found out some great news and it’s all because of YOU!!” she wrote. “ATLAS is #1 worldwide again this week!!! Thank you all so much!!! It may seem like there’s a lot of negativity out in the world right now … but don’t let the voices of a few drown out that there is soooo much love out there.”
