Patrick Dempsey has been tapped by the Dexter franchise to star alongside Christian Slater.
People Magazine reported on Thursday, June 20, that the Grey’s Anatomy alum locked the deal to be a full-time cast member on Dexter: Original Sin.
In Showtime’s new series, he will play the role of Miami Metro Homicide Captain Aaron Spencer, "Who has a decades-long relationship with Harry Morgan (Slater),” according to a press release.
In addition, Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, officially confirmed the new addition of Dempsey into the franchise.
"Patrick Dempsey is a beloved actor who is intentionally known for the iconic characters he has played and his performances," he stated.
"We are thrilled to have him join our all-star cast of Dexter: Original Sin, the highly anticipated origin story of the franchise," McCarthy announced in the statement.
Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Molly Brown as Debra Morgan, James Martinez as Angel Batista, and Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt round up the stellar lineup of Dexter: Original Sin.
Additionally, the original Dexter, which starred Emmy-winner Michael C. Hall, ran for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013.
